The new WinCo Foods distribution facility in Ellensburg, Washington is being engineered as an approximately 1,000,000 SF distribution hub with a highly specialized refrigerated layout to support high-volume grocery operations. As highlighted in local news coverage from YourSourceOne, the project is a major regional investment in food distribution infrastructure. The design centers on a large -10°F freezer of more than 69,000 SF, surrounded by multiple 35°F cooler zones dedicated to pallet storage and segmented areas for different product flows. The layout also incorporates 35°F cold receiving and shipping docks, plus 45°F and 55°F dry produce rooms, giving WinCo precise temperature control from inbound to outbound operations.
Republic Refrigeration is providing full industrial refrigeration design and engineering for this in-progress facility, including detailed load calculations, equipment selection, 3D Revit modeling, comprehensive P&IDs, and Process Safety Management support. Designed in accordance with IIAR standards and all applicable codes, the system is being carefully coordinated with all project disciplines to deliver an efficient, reliable, and service-friendly installation. We’re proud to help WinCo build a future-ready, million-square-foot distribution hub in Ellensburg that supports product quality, food safety, and seamless operations for years to come.
